Maine has Highest Death Rate in USA, 82% Fully Vaccinated
Maine CDC updated COVID-19 Vaccine Breakthrough Data today. This update showed that from 10/31 to 11/7, 77.4% of new cases (1042 of 1346), 72.4% of new hospitalizations (42 of 58), and 81.6% of recent deaths (31 of 38) were fully vaccinated (Sources: ME CDC COVID-19 Vaccine Data Updates, 10/31 and 11/7).
Over the last 7 days, 38 Mainers have died - at least in part - due to COVID-19. At a rate of .48 deaths per 100,000 residents, Maine currently has the highest rate of recent death in the country, according to NYT COVID-19 Data Tracker.
Maine also has the 8th highest recent hospitalization rate in the country over the previous 7 days. This is especially notable, since hospitalizations have decreased over the last 2 weeks from 206 on 10/24 to 155 on 11/07.
Over the same 2 weeks (10/24 to 11/7), ME CDC has reported 143 new hospitalizations and 54 new deaths associated with COVID-19. If my math is correct, that means that 194 Mainers have left the hospital in the last 2 weeks. Of them 140 recovered and 54 (or 28%) died.
Of the 54 who died, 78% were fully vaccinated, exceeding the state’s vaccination rate of 76%. (Sources: ME CDC COVID-19 Vaccine Breakthrough Data Updates from 10/23 and 11/7).
As the graph above demonstrates, the fully vaccinated are currently experiencing a yet another spike in deaths related to COVID-19. These spikes can also be seen across the graph dating back to March 4th and seem to come in 2 and 4-week cycles.
By contrast the correlating spikes among the unvaccinated/not fully vaccinated have been less severe. As cases and hospitalizations spiked throughout October, it was the fully vaccinated that suffered the highest number of deaths associated with COVID-19.
And yet…
Governor Mills Healthcare Worker Vaccine Requirement lives on. Maine’s community colleges, UMaine are still requiring all students to be fully vaccine for in person learning. Bates, Colby and Bowden Colleges have also maintained a COVID-19 Vaccine requirement. With the new legislature and Blaine House under the complete control of Democrats, it’s only a matter of time before the vaccines become mandated for school-aged children and possibly daycares.
Unless we get this data out and make sure others are aware.
It’s been a tough week for anyone in Maine who has been paying attention to facts and truth over the last few years.
Regardless who you voted for, facts are powerful.

It takes time and effort to track this data and report on it each week. I believe it’s necessary that these stories be told and chronicled and that - in a world full of half truths and lies - facts must prevail.
