Last 2 Weeks, Fully Vaccinated Majority of cases, hospitalizations and deaths
ME CDC Reports 142% increase in Breakthrough Cases since New Year
ME CDC has reported lower numbers in cases and hospitalization over the past few weeks, while the percentage of new reported breakthrough cases, hospitalizations and deaths rose to the highest yet with the latest Breakthrough Data update on 3/11.
From 3/04 to 3/11, ME CDC Total Breakthrough Data showed an increase of 40 total new hospitalizations, with 21 (52.5%) that were breakthrough/fully vaccinated. There were 29 total deaths reported, included 20 (68.9%) that were recorded as Fully Vaccinated. Cases increased overall by 1,744, a low over the past few months. Of total cases, 1,235 (70.8%) were reported as Fully Vaccinated.
From August 6 to December 23, ME CDC reported a total of 20,197 breakthrough cases, making up 29.5% of all reported cases in that time period. Since the new year, ME CDC has reported 47,605 Breakthrough Cases, an increase of 142% and now making up 55.9% of all cases (Aug 6, 21- March 11, 22).
Over the last 2 weeks - or one incubation period- the Fully Vaccinated make up the majority of all ME CDC reported cases, hospitalizations and deaths across the state of Maine.
ME CDC Breakthrough Data from 2/28 to 3/11 showed 61.9% of all cases, 57.3% of all hospitalizations, and 61.4% of all deaths were reported as fully vaccinated.
