From Maine CDC Data, 3 of 4 New Hospitalizations and 2 of 3 Recent Deaths are Fully Vaccinated
Maine Has the HIGHEST recent COVID-19 Death Rate in America
Over the last 2 weeks, deaths related to COVID-19 in Maine have spiked again. From 11/28/22 to 12/12/22, a total of 48 Mainers have died at least in part to the disease. According to the New York Times, Maine is currently leading the nation in recent death rate at .52 deaths per 100,000 residents.
Maine CDC COVID-19 Vaccine Breakthrough Data shows that the mass majority of recent hospitalizations and deaths related to COVID-19 are fully vaccinated Mainers. From 11/28 to 12/12, 70% (1592 of 2262) of New cases, 74.7% (59 of 79) of new hospitalizations and 66.7% (32 of 48) of new deaths were fully vaccinated (Sources: ME CDC COVID-19 Vaccine Breakthrough Data Update, 11/28/22 and 12/12/22).
This is not new.
Maine CDC has provided updates to the COVID-19 VaccineBreakthrough Data on a nearly weekly basis since August of 2021. Since the March 4, 2022 update, the fully vaccinated have been the overwhelming majority of deaths in nearly every week.
Over the last 9 months, a total of 589 Mainers have died due to COVID-19. Of them 73% - or 430 - were fully vaccinated.
Hospitalizations don’t stray from this trend, with the fully vaccinated representing 73% (1461 of 2006) of COVID-19 patients during the same time period.
As we head into the dead of winter within a thick flu season, the COVID-19 vaccines are not demonstrating the strong protection that was promised by so many. The fully vaccinated outnumber the unvaccinated at a 3 to 1 rate over the last 9 months in both hospitalizations and deaths.
And yet, the only message from Dr. Shah the ME CDC continues to be “get vaccinated.”

Live not by lies. Seek the Truth.
It's staggering and so sad. I know so many held their hopes with some miracle needle, and it was a lie.
Thank you for the ongoing summations of Maine data. I have been reviewing your prior posts hoping to get a sense of where things stand now compared to last December when we were at maximum hospital capacity due to Delta. Specifically, the ‘vaccinated’ people I know now seem to be resuming their pre-Covid activities and I am wondering, a year on from Delta, just how much less risky the times really are. Also I am trying to understand if indeed the ‘vaccinated’ really had more protection a year ago. Perhaps we will never be able to get the answers to these questions but maybe you can ferret that out!
